Introducing..... Dead Confederate's Wrecking Blahg, version 2.0. We've made it prettier. We've made it easier to navigate. John Cougar Trainingcamp!!!!!!!!!!

At the 40 Watt club on Thursday Feb, 12th you will find a new band called.......... John Cougar Trainingcamp!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  This consists of 3 drummers, 2 guitars, and a rotating array of bassists and singers.  Members of Dead Confed, Gift Horse, The Dumps, Blue Flashing Light, (as well as others climbing onstage) will be blasting everything from The Melvins to The Beach Boys..... (other bands will be added to the bill, so more details are sure to come)))))))))))

New Songs Up....on myspace

Posted 3 new tracks on our myspace page today.  Two tracks ('All the Angels' and 'Wrecking Ball') from our album as well as a B-side from the Wrecking Ball sessions called 'As Able, As Well'.  This song is available as a bonus track on iTunes, but can be downloaded individually also.  I would put a link, but I'm sure if you are reading this then you know how to get to our myspace page.  Bye.

Pollock in the "Flesh"

I was recently in NYC and spent some time doing the things we don't usually get to do while on tour. One such thing was walking through the Museum of Modern Art and spending all day enthralled with the breathtaking art they have on display. I was especially excited about the Jackson Pollock pieces, as anyone that really knows me can tell you I have a sincere affection for his work. Actually seeing it in the flesh was more inspiring than I had imagined. Speaking of flesh, they had Pollock's "She-Wolf" on display (the painting that partially inspired "Flesh-Colored Canvas"). Inspiration sometimes comes in very abstract forms.

Flesh-Colored Canvas (Lyrics)

My visions still blurred by the tricks that you turned,

I laid open eyed drinking heart wine
Soaking in all that I lacked
A lover accused of standing abuse then
Turning and running the track
A pawn in the game that muses had made

Tainted and twisted, my drinks double-fisted

A Pollock-like painting that don’t keep you waiting,
The feeling bleeds out of a gash
Your cutting won’t peel, the washing won’t heal

This is how I changed my mind

A quick stroke of black on a flesh-colored canvas
Emoting the sympathy left
Seven strokes red aiming ends at your head
Each for a sacrifice met
Dark blue blurs on the ends of your curves
The sadness you caused and I kept
I tie it all in with a solid gold pen
A frame to make sure that it’s felt

The medium bleeds but at least you can see
A mirror can reach to your back
It reminds you of me and what I stand to be
With obvious subtle attack
Lay on your side so it lasts a lifetime
Learn from this simple abstract
The painter has gone and you stand alone
Gone with the tip of my hat

A little R and R with Reflection

     Now that the holidays are over and the 360-like motion of being thrown from the van into the car to families homes and back is diminishing, the echoes of the previous tour are ringing in my ear. I (as well as the other Dead Confeds) would like to thank the members and crew of

 and All Get Out.

Through the course of the tour, There has been 25 musicians and crew, 21 shows, 4 climate patterns, 2 accidents all in 1 month. With endless good times, this provokes the inevitable action of name remembering. We have entertained ourselves to say every name of every person from the tour as quickly as possible..

Anywhoo..

Now, looking out the window at the house here in Athens, The van sits proud and dirty like it has just returned from the front line. This makes me think about the past months winter conditions.. a little shout out to the old machine..

Like Brantley says.. We are glad to be back for a little while. And much more to come in 2009.
