Dead Confederate and Black Lips will headline the main outdoor stage for AthFest 09.......yes, that rules. 

Other headliners include Patterson Hood on Sat. and Randall Bramlett on Sunday.

Week 2 - Whigs/DC/Trances Arc

We stopped by a Cracker Barrel with The Whigs for lunch. The gift shop is undoubtedly the best part of it. Behold: Elegant Badger Body Care Kit!

I called them up and got Walker an endorsement.

We stopped by the Daytrotter studio for a live session. I'll let you know when that session is online. It's really amazing how hard those guys work. (And all this time I thought blogging was supposed to be a hobby!)

Mmmmm... the world's smallest ice cream cone. I don't know what that has to do with anything.

The camaraderie on this tour was great. There's nothing like touring with another band that you're already friends with.

Maybe we are too good of friends.

For the last song of the tour, Michael and Eric from Trances Arc and our own Juan Bovi jumped up for a cover of The Kinks' "Lola" with The Whigs.

Evil My-Buddy loses his head in Columbus OH

Last night's show was a good time all around. That's the Whigs ripping a new one.

 

A lot of us had such a good time we drank in slight excess. That's a rubber glove on Juan's head.

So much fun in fact, we ended up playing wall-ball with Evil My-Buddy's head. That's Evil My-Buddy's head on The Whigs antenna at the end of the night.

This morning we couldn't figure out what to do about the destroyed Evil My-Buddy. A new wig for Hardy? 

Better yet, a pen and some duct tape should do the trick. Evil My-Buddy 2.0

Week 1 - Whigs/DC/Trances Arc

Sorry for the lack of updates on this tour. It's really just been comfortable and calm. Maybe too much! Both The Whigs and Trances Arc have sounded fantastic every night and we've had a wonderful time.



I love that everyone on this tour has famous athletes on their dressing room doors, but ours is the only mug shot. They know us all too well.



The highlight of the tour so far was taking a day off in NYC with my girl to wander about the American Museum of Natural History. I know. Lame. Thanks. Anyway, seeing dinosaur skeletons never really did anything for me. They seem so fantastical and unreal to me (probably cause I've never seen one). However, seeing old skeletons of more common types of animals from millions of years ago really puts evolution and time into perspective. I feel so insignificant.



Walker! Get out of the display case man! You're not allowed in there!

We just got word today that we are confirmed for our first tour (mini-tour) overseas, supporting A Place To Bury Strangers. Oh, and how LOUD it will be...

Photos from the Westward Journey

Well, we are back for a day and a half before we trek through the east coast with the Whigs.
Here are some photos from the road (and air.)

 

First of all, There were some pretty disturbing pictures in the airplane safety guide.. I guess in case of an emergency, you should perform distasteful gestures.

After a fairly pleasant flight to Chicago, The flight to our final destination (Portland) was pretty much hell. It was a cramped flight with a few screaming babies and kids.

 

This is one of the many mountains around the Portland area taken before our arrival. Also, Portland from our rent-a-yukon.

 

After a killer show in Portland.. We headed to Seattle for Walko and Hardys acoustic performance. I took some video footage of Wrecking ball and will post on youtube soon.

 

We had a great time at Stevens Pass North of Seattle.

 

The Drive from Stevens Pass to Sacramento was long but scenic.

 

San Francisco was too short..but sweet. Look, Its Alcatraz.

 

 This is my favorite set of water towers which were outside of L.A. To the left, a ghostly pic of a homeless man.

 

More flying.. now in hotel relaxing.

 

 

We had two killer shows in Denver and a great time sightseeing at red rocks and Buffalo Bills grave site. Thanks to Chad for showing us around. 

 

After a slight flight delay because of the snow, and a carefull drive back to Athens, we're going to rest for a second before our eastward journey. Thank you to all our friends (old and new) who came out and supported us.
